Preparing for Your Hair Appointment

What should I wear?

We don’t care too much about what you wear, there are just certain clothing options that can make it easier on you and your stylist. We don’t recommend wearing puffer vests or hoodies unless they can be removed without going over your head. The bulkiness can make it difficult to do your hair. If you get chilly easily, it’s a good idea to bring in an extra layer just in case you get cold. Once again, avoid layers that need to go over your head or that are bulky, and instead opt for something that is easy to take on and off.

We don’t expect you to be the expert, that’s our job. During your consultation, your hair stylist will talk with you about your concerns, what you’ve liked and haven’t liked, your lifestyle, and more! Our goal is to help guide you to a hairstyle that fits YOU! Inspiration pictures can help us see what you like and don’t like as well!

Don’t stress. This mainly applies to color appointments, and we don’t mean wash your hair immediately before coming to your appointment. Washing your hair 24-48 hours before your appointment is recommended. You’ll want to avoid heavy oils, dry shampoo, and lots of styling products to help the color or bleach do what it needs to.

he conversation level is up to you. You can be as chatty or as quiet as you would like! Our cosmetologists do have to check in at certain times to ensure you’re comfortable and get your thoughts and opinions about certain aspects of your hair, but other than that you can read, work, sit in silence, have a full conversation, ask them questions, calmly vent, whatever works! This can also change throughout the service, it’s okay!

Taking pictures is how cosmetologists build their portfolio for potential clients. It also helps them see the progress and growth they’ve made throughout their careers. If you don’t feel comfortable with having your picture taken, just say so! We understand not everyone wants their lives broadcast on social media, and we’ll respect that. We should always be asking permission before taking photos anyways.

After Your Hair Appointment

When should I wash my hair?

We recommend waiting 48-72 hours before washing your hair after a chemical or color service. This allows the color to fully set, your hair’s cuticles to close, helping your results last longer. After a haircut, you can wash your hair whenever it feels necessary.

Most salons have a guarantee for their services. Here at the beUtofullness Way by Tami’s Salon and Spa, we guarantee our work for one week. That means if you call in within one week, we will schedule you a fix at the cost of product. If you change your mind and want to go a whole different direction, this does not apply.

It’s important to know how long your stylist recommends before you need to come back to help maintain your results. It’s a good idea as well to ask for product recommendations to ensure your results last as long as possible. We’ll work with you to find something in your price range. At our salon, we also offer 20% off of haircare whenever you come in for a service – it’s a great way to never pay full price for a product!

For all hair appointments, you want to maintain good habits. These include:

• Using professional products that support your hair needs.
• Deep conditioning according to your hair needs.
• Rinsing with lukewarm-cool water in the shower.
• Be gentle when brushing your hair.
• Using Heat Protectant when using hot tools.
• Protect your hair from chlorine and the sun.
• Come in for maintenance trims.

Some hair services such as blonding, coloring, perms, and extensions have specific aftercare instructions we’ll go over with you before you leave!

Preparing for Your Nail or Pedicure Appointment

What should I wear?

When it comes to your nail appointment, you don’t need to stress too much about what you’re wearing. Opt for a top that doesn’t restrict your arm movement and sleeves that don’t cover your fingertips. Other than that, wear what you feel good in!

Whether it’s the shape of your nail, the length, color, or design, or nail techs are here to help you find a design that will help you feel confident and work with your lifestyle! This all starts at the consultation. Let your nail tech know any concerns you have, and feel free to ask any questions!

What if I need something adjusted?

Most salons have a guarantee for their services. Here at the beUtofullness Way by Tami’s Salon and Spa, we guarantee our work for one week. That means if you call in within one week, we will schedule you a fix at the cost of product. If you change your mind and want to go a whole different direction, this does not apply.

Our nail techs recommend scheduling every 4-6 weeks to get your nails done on average. We have clients that like to come in more frequently, and clients who like to spread out their appointments! Ultimately, it’s up to you.

For all nail appointments, you want to maintain good habits. These include:

• Using cuticle oil and hand cream daily.
•Wash and dry your hands regularly.
• Wear gloves when doing household chores.
• Avoid using harsh chemicals.
• Do not use your nails as tools.
• Do not open can tabs with your nails – use the side  of your finger instead.
• Don’t pick, peel or bite your nails.
• If your nails get too long, use a file to shorten the length instead of clipping them.

Let your nail tech know if there are any other questions you have about aftercare!

Preparing for Your Lash Appointment

What should I wear?

Dress cozy, avoid eye makeup such as mascara, eyeliner, or eyeshadow, and avoid updo hairstyles such as buns or ponytails. Your lash tech may ask you to remove your contacts once you’re in the room, or you can wear your glasses to your appointment. If you want to have a moment to yourself, bring headphones or ear buds so you can jam out and vibe while you get your lashes done!

Our lash techs will do a consultation before each appointment. For your first time, they’ll talk to you about your lifestyle, and if you’d like something more natural or more dramatic, full, or fluffy. You can also visit our Lashes & Waxing page to see if you want lash extensions or natural lash enhancements.

After Your Lash Appointment

When can I wash my face?

We recommend keeping your lashes dry for at least 24 hours. As long as you can avoid getting your lashes wet while washing your face, you’re good!

This depends on what lash service you’re getting. Let’s break it down:

For Lash Lifts and Tints we recommend coming in every 6-8 weeks.

For Eyelash Extensions, you’ll choose what fill schedule you would like, 2 week or 3 week. This means every 2-3 weeks you’ll come in and get your lashes filled, which means we replace what has fallen out.

For all lash appointments, you want to maintain good habits. These include:

• Avoid makeup for eye treatments for 24 hours after your lash appointment.
• Avoid swimming or saunas for 24 hours after your lash appointment.
• Avoid touching your lashes as much as possible.
• Comb your lashes upwards using a clean spoolie twice a day.

Lash Extensions have specific aftercare instructions that we want to make note of:

•Do not use mascara or lash curlers.
•Only use oil-free products near your eyes.
•Do your best to sleep on your side or back – not on your face.

If you’re ready to take a break, only have your lashes removed professionally.

Preparing for Your Waxing Appointment

What should I wear?

We recommend ditching the super-tight clothing when coming to your wax appointment. When you wear comfy, loose-fitting clothing, it helps reduce friction, which means you can avoid ingrown hairs!

he conversation level is up to you. You can be as chatty or as quiet as you would like! Our Estheticians do have to check in at certain times to ensure you’re comfortable and get your thoughts and opinions about certain aspects of your nails, but other than that you can sit in silence, have a full conversation, ask them questions, calmly vent, whatever works! This can also change throughout the service, it’s okay!

Other tips for a successful body waxing appointment:

• Shower & exfoliate within 24 hours before your appointment
• If you’re concerned about pain, try numbing cream or an over-the-counter pain reliever before your appointment.
• Hair length in the area should be 1/4 inch at least.
• Remember: Our Estheticians aren’t here to judge your body. They’re here to help you feel more confident in it.

After Your Waxing Appointment

What do I need to know about maintenance?

For body waxing, we recommend coming in every 4-6 weeks depending on your hair growth cycle.

For all wax appointments, you want to maintain good habits. These include:

• Avoid sunlight on the waxed area, swimming, hot showers or baths, spray tans, sports, gym work, and other exercise for 24-48 hours.
• Wear loose-fitting clothing
• Do not scratch or rub the waxed area.
• Avoid exfoliating until 48 hours post wax.

For facial waxing, in addition to the recommendations above, you should also avoid makeup on the waxed area for 24 hours.

Preparing for Your Facial Appointment

What should I wear?

Because we have the option to change into a spa wrap once you’re in the facial room, what you wear to the appointment doesn’t matter too much. If you prefer to stay in your clothes for the facial, you’ll want to avoid puffy vests, hoodies, and collared shirts.

Keep in mind, if our clients are comfortable with it, we do apply products down the neck and to the decollate area, which is the upper part of your chest and collarbone area, and we don’t want to get product on your clothes.

We also recommend shoes that are easy on and off so you can focus more on relaxing.

The conversation level is up to you. You can be as chatty or as quiet as you would like! Our Estheticians do have to check in at certain times to ensure you’re comfortable and get your thoughts and opinions about certain aspects of your facial, but other than that you can sit in silence, have a full conversation, ask them questions, calmly vent, whatever works! This can also change throughout the service, it’s okay!

Preparation tips for a successful facial:

• Avoid harsh exfoliants, retinol, or AHA’s 24-48 hours before your appointment.

Some places prefer you come in with a clean face if possible. Here at Tami’s Salon and Spa, we understand life gets crazy sometimes and you need a quick relaxing facial during your day. If you show up with makeup on, we won’t stress. Just know we will me taking most of it off during your facial.

After Your Facial Appointment

What do I need to know about maintenance?
